Empowering Rural Communities with Off-Grid Energy
Supported by the United States Africa Development Foundation (USADF), an ambitious off-grid energy project brought light and progress to the rural communities of Malawi. The initiative focused on enhancing the lives of thousands by distributing 10,000 solar home systems, and empowering smallholder farmers through financial literacy training and solar water pump technology.
Empowering Rural Economies and Youth (TREY)
At the heart of TREY's impact were the affordable solar water pumps and solar fridges made accessible to farmers. The provision of these cutting-edge technologies revolutionized water management and post-harvest handling. The solar water pumps offered a reliable and eco-friendly solution for irrigation, enabling farmers to efficiently water their crops and improve agricultural yields.
Market Food Waste to Biogas Energy
The project developed a 40 cubic meter digester in Malawi and a Gap Lab energy hub as center for the distribution of innovations to surrounding communities. The biodigester provides for cooking to restaurants and households as well as provision of bio slurry a byproduct from Biogas to farmers as fertilizer
Digital Malawi Project
The Digital Malawi Project, is a collaborative effort between the World Bank, the government of Malawi, and the Public and Private Partnership Commission. This pioneering initiative aims to empower diverse segments of society by providing them with essential digital skills, fostering mass literacy, and nurturing entrepreneurship.
